She should have known that it was his favorite movie. A lot of people around her age had always mentioned it to be their favorite movie, but she couldn’t really see why. It was cool and all yes, but Disney movies were Disney movies and most she really enjoyed watching. Choice made, she had headed back to the kitchen for some more sips of water before heading back into the room where they were going to watch the movie.
Glancing at Josh as she came back into the room, she noticed he took the far end of the couch and she took the other. She was about to lay down to rest her head on the arm and curl her legs up when she remembered a certain something and had to sit back up. If she was going to lay down her head would have to be facing in his direction, but she wasn’t about to take up all the space on the couch and kick him off. Besides, could she trust him if she happened to fall asleep during the movie? But… right now she would rather stay here than going back to an empty house. He had proven himself worth thus far and she didn’t think he would ruin it now. Sighing, she brought her legs up to partially tuck under her and pointed them away from Josh’s current location. Watching the movie was a no-brainer, but trying to stay awake was harder than it seemed. Eventually she was tired enough to lay down, her head near him, but she was curled up enough that she didn’t touch him. A few minutes later and those dropping eyelids of hers would be shut.

Josh watched her move around from the corner of his eye, he shook his head slowly as he went back to watching the movie - stay up late was no big deal for Josh as he did it on a daily basis when he partied, but he was going to change that and party occasionally and that was a big thing for josh as he had kept his reputation flowing since he first moved which was a few years ago - he bit his lip at the thought of losing his friends over something stupid. He then thought about it - if they were really his friends then they would help him through it instead of ditching him, either way he couldn't care less.
Josh gazed over and saw she was nodding off, he stood up and went down the hallway and opened a door - that was a linen closet - he pulled out a blanket and carried it to the lounge room, he slowly pulled it over her, trying not to wake her, he then switched off the movie and headed to bed himself.

Opening her eyes before closing them again, Kyla began to stretch herself out on the couch. Wait, couch? Her eyes snapped open as they took in the unfamiliar setting. By the time she had opened her eyes and darted them around the room, her body froze as panic started to flutter in her stomach. As seconds passed she became more awake and aware of what had happened. Memories from the other day flashed by and slowly she relaxed. As she set up she saw the blanket that was around her and smiled softly. Josh- a guy she had met just the other day- was a good guy it seemed and had stayed true to his word of not trying anything. It was even thoughtful of him to place the blanket around her. It made her wonder though just how tired she had been last night. Seconds were going by and each second she began growing more awake because she realized she did not remember what she dreamed about last night. She did not even wake up when he placed the blanket around her. This information gathered, Kyla concluded that between the sunburn, sun, and time at beach the other day had worn her out. Speaking of sunburn, Kyla raised her arms and noticed that they were only tinged a light pink and that her sunburn was not bad, but rather healing nicely. She knew however, that she needed to get up and head home.
In order to get up from the couch, Kyla had to force herself to take a breath and heave herself up. Leaving the warm confines of a bed or a makeshift one for that matter was always her to accomplish. While she stood, she fixed her rumpled clothes and stretched by reaching up toward the ceiling and going up on her toes. Satisfied and relaxed from the stretching, Ky turned back around to gather the blanket and began to fold it. While she was folding it she remembered that she needed to check her phone for any texts or missed calls from her parents just in case they had tried to contact her. She placed the folded blanket on the back of the couch and went over to where she had placed her phone to go through it and saw that she had a voicemail from her mom. The voicemail asked for her password and then played the message once she had typed it in. As she held the phone with her left hand to her ear her right hand came up to brush through her semi-tangled hair at the news. Her mom was going to pick up her father so he did not have to take a taxi home and they were going to go out for dinner, meaning they were not going to be home until late tonight. Kyla sighed heavily as she brought her phone from her ear and ended the call. Great. She missed her parents, but more so she missed being able to spend time with them. An empty house would be waiting for her to return to it this morning, but perhaps she could blast some music and things would be better. Music always tended to help her.
But now she had to go to the bathroom which meant she had to find it again. Grabbing her bikini bottoms from her towel (which were now finally dry) she tucked it under the front of her tank top and crossed her arms around her to hide it as she made her way to the bathroom. It was a precaution to make sure Josh would not find out what her “plan” had been the other day. She freshened up in the bathroom the best she could without her necessities before heading out and making her way back into the lounge room. Perhaps it would be better for her to wait for Josh and thank him before heading out back to her place to get ready for another day on her own. Yeah, she would wait. Her phone was back in her hands now and she settled herself on the couch once more to clean out her text inbox to give her something to do while she waited for Josh.

Josh woke up to the cold breeze that was blowing through his windows, he stretched as he rolled onto his back, he picked up his phone to check the time and then he remembered Kyla - maybe she wanted to go home? he scratched his head and got up, fixing his sweat pants up, he scratched his bare chest as he slept with no shirt on. He left his room and disappeared to the toilet, which didn't take him long, he washed his hands and went out to the kitchen, there he saw Kyla mucking around on her phone - he shook his head, placing his hair in its normal position; he walked out and greeted her.
"Good morning" he said with a slight smile "Did you want some breakfast before you go?" he asked in a friendly manner. Josh stood leaning on the bench, he didn't mind if she just wanted to leave straight away - some people don't eat breakfast, maybe she was one of those? he shrugged as he played with his lip ring as he waited for an answer.

As she pressed the button to delete the last text Kyla heard a good morning. She glanced towards the source of the words with a smile on her face in an effort to return the greeting. However, as her eyes lowered, she glanced to the side towards the kitchen. He was shirtless. A small blush still came to her cheeks at the sight despite already seeing him like that the other day. Brining her hands up to her face, she rubbed the sleep out of her eyes before answering him. ”No thank you; I’ll get something light at home.” Not to mention get a shower and get into cleaner clothes and a real bra and panties for once. Yeah, but she was not telling him that much. She stood up again to gather her things in her arms and put on her flip flops.
Before making her way out the door, she looked back at him one more time. All the while many thoughts were going through her head in those small seconds. Would she ever see him again? With a town like this, it was bound to happen, right? Would he recognize her though? She did have a part of her hair dyed red, so perhaps he would recognize her. Still… Making up her mind in something that was “spur of the moment” and bold for her, she walked up to him and leaned in close. She did everything quickly of course and placed her cheek against one of his before making a kissing sound like most Spanish cultured women greeted people. ”Thanks,” she said softly before pulling away with a blush and walking out of there as soon as she could. It was as close to a kiss on the cheek she was willing to go, for not even having had her first kiss. She did not even know if he had a girlfriend that might flay her alive for even going near him. Out the door, she did not look back and headed up back towards her car with her things in her hand. Oh boy, why had she done that out of all things? A simple “thanks” would have done it.

Josh nodded at her response, he understood - she probably has things to do since she only moved here and all, maybe they would run into each other someday, he would never forget the girl that slept on his couch - the name amused him to a point.
He watched as she stood and kissed him on the cheek? he counted that as a kiss - he hear a faint thanks and then she was gone - he didn't even say good bye, why? because he was wrapped up in his own mind. He hoped that she didn't think he was rude for not saying bye - he couldn't help it she was so uncomfortable and then she 'kisses' him on the cheek? all he could say was "Woah; am I high?" he laughed at himself as he went back to his usual everyday business.
