Between her dad working and her mom off doing her own thing, Kyla was left with chores to do and errands to run today. Her mom had given her a list of things to by this morning at the convenience store. Because she was new to the area and the store, trying to find items around the place was hard and not to mention time consuming. Of course she used the signs that were posted above the isles, but instead of scanning what was on the list and getting all the items she needed in one isle, she ended up finding one item at a time. It was a mistake that had her running from one side of the store to the next. ’Think of it as a work out,’ she had told herself during all her running back and forth. Instead of picking up the better method of shopping Kyla had continued with her very faulty method. However, she did check off each item as she got them so she would not have to go back later and make sure she had everything. Besides, she had gone this far shopping her way and might as well finish it.
When she had checked out, she used her mom’s card (with permission) and placed it back in her mini wallet which contained her driver’s license, other various cards, and a couple of dollars. Carrying purses was not really her thing and so her phone and keys rested inside of her other pocket. Once placing the items in the trunk of her car and returning the cart, Kyla got inside her car and went back home to unload and put away the various groceries and supplies she was told to buy. If her mom did not like the way she had organized the food in the pantry, then tough. She could rearrange it however the heck she wanted to. Of course Kyla was kind of bitter about the whole thing; there were other things she wanted to do today. As soon as everything was taken care of she was going to get out of this house and check out some of the other shops she had seen around here.
Sometime later she found herself doing just that. It was somewhere around four in the afternoon she bet as she walked into one of the nearest shops after parking her car. Her keys were in one pocket while her phone and small wallet were in the other. Feeling bad that they had to move again and she lost her friends along the distance, Kyla’s parents had given her a fairly hefty amount on a gift card that was pretty much good to use anywhere she wanted to. What better way to spend some free time than going out and getting a few things for herself? She wasn’t one of those people to spend what she received all at once, but would by things at spaced out intervals. It was here where she found herself browsing through the CDs of a bookstore in hopes of finding something that would catch her interest.

Somehow, and she wasn't sure how, Juliet had ended up in town. Okay. She knew how she had gotten there, because she had walked. But she didn't know why. It was just one of those days. She had nothing to do, and didn't know what to do. Her older brother Marshall, being the lazy asshole that he could be, was still in bed. Both of her parents had been up early so they could go and run errands for Juliet's nana. This morning, she had showered; picked an outfit; made herself breakfast and sat around watching cartoons until she got bored, and it was barely even lunch time yet. She felt like she had woken up in some kind of parallel universe, because things just didn't feel right. Not wanting to sit around the house like a slob all day, she had tried to call almost every person in the contact book of her phone, but everybody either didn't answer or they couldn't meet up with her because they were busy. How nice. Why was she bothering? She didn't need people! She could easily go out and find some kind of adventure on her own.
Grabbing her house keys, her phone and her iPod and stuffing into the pockets, Juliet threw on a pair of Converses and prayed to God that they weren't her brother's before walking out of the front door and up the street. The only flaw within her plan was that she hadn't really thought about where she could go once she was out of the house. For a little while, she allowed her feet to carry her in any direction that was familiar to her; running through a list of places in her mind. She found herself walking past the arcade, but she didn't fancy paying money to stand and play PacMan all day. It was enjoyable at times, but she could have done that just as easily at home, and for free. Without having to do all that walking. Jules didn't pay any attention to her surroundings until she reached the Kambrook Plaza. Walking over to one of the benches, she sat down and pulled out her iPod from her pocket, untangling the headphones with a look of deep concentration spread across her face. She had learnt her lesson a long time ago that it was something she should never do standing up, in public at least, because somebody would always walk into her and on a few occassions this had resulted in a broken iPod. Of course, it was never her fault, it was always the guy - or gal - that had walked into her.
Headphones in her ears and iPod zipped up safely in the pocket of her burgundy baseball jacket, she stood up and ran her fingers through her hair, pushing it backwards almost like a large quiff. Juliet looked around and walked over to the music store - it seemed like a good place to start, as fiddling with her iPod had reminded her about the ever-growing list of CDs that she had been meaning to buy for a while now. Downloading things from iTunes was something that she had never felt comfortable with. She liked having physical copies of discs that she could hold and stack on shelves in her bedroom. It was like her equivalent of stamp collecting. Carefully, she wandered around, in and out of the shelves. Juliet being surrounded by CDs was like a small child let loose around Toys 'R Us, without their parents telling them to put everything down. However, she managed to contain herself in a more appropriate manner. Her eyes scanned through every CD, not wanting to miss any gems that had been put back in the wrong place. Taking a step back to turn around and look at the opposite shelf, she clumsily managed to collide straight into the back of somebody. "Jesus Christ!" It wasn't something that she had been expecting, causing a loud outburst that caused some people to turn around and look at her. "Erm, sorry... I hope you're not religious or anything." Juliet apologised, gently pressing her teeth against her bottom lip. She didn't really swear as often as some people she knew, but blaspheme was something that she did constantly. At first Kyla had just looked for CDs by certain artists she was interested in and still decided she was not going to buy the album. Certain CDs had songs on there that she liked, but there were just not enough songs on the album that would make it worth buying. Now instead of looking at certain artists, Kyla began looking at the mixed CDs that had “the top songs” of whatever year it was or which songs were “hot” now on them. Chances of buying a mixed CD instead of an album from one artist seemed pretty high right now. However, Kyla wanted to look around some more. Her music tastes varied greatly, so she could browse pretty much anywhere along the CD isles. From classical, country, rock, and metal (pretty much everything) she could listen to those types of genres depending on her mood. The only genre she really did not listen to was rap- she just couldn’t stand it sometimes. However, she could stand some of the Spanish songs that popped on the radio occasionally now thanks to a couple years of Spanish under her belt. Some of the words she could understand and enjoyed the beat, but if a Portuguese song came on well then… she didn’t know it. She did know one Portuguese song that she liked however because she could find herself finding a beat to dance to. Speaking of dancing, this reminded her that she needed to look into going out and dancing one night and have some fun. It couldn’t hurt too much, could it?
A sudden push from her back had her falling forward with her hands out. She did not actually fall down because she caught herself by placing her hands on the surface the CDs were resting on. Before she managed to straighten up, the first thing she heard was a name that caused her to flinch. Kyla was not too religious, but she did hold a certain respect for the name and religion. Turning around to face the person that bumped into her, she answered her with her own measure of uncertainty. ”Um… not really.” Well now, this was awkward. Was the other girl just supposed to go on her merry way and such and Ky would just go back to browsing CDs? Perhaps the polite thing to do would be to ask her if she was okay, but the girl did not necessarily fall and Ky did not want her to think that by her question she would be questioning the girl’s intelligence. She would just have to settle with well-wishes. ”I hope you’re ok there.” No, she did not mean “ok” in the head, she meant that she hoped the girl did not hurt herself when she ran into Kyla. Personally she was fine, glad she was able to catch herself from falling hitting something. Bumps and bruises were a pain to live with until they healed.
Wanting to make things the least awkward as possible, Ky quickly thought of something to talk to the girl about. ”Hey, by the way… you wouldn’t happen to know any good artists, songs, or albums out would you?” It was a good thought to a conversation, or she thought it was anyway. Maybe this girl could introduce her to an excellent artist that she had not heard about before. ”Oh, and I’m Kyla,” she added soon after to introduce herself and be polite. The girl looked to be around her age, so maybe Kyla could make another acquaintance for when school started back up again. Or well, she might just see her around town again some other time. Waiting, Ky shifted her weight to her other foot and glanced at the girl’s appearance. She sure did have a unique style. She was not judging or anything. In fact, she but she found it interesting. Smiling, Ky hoped this person was pretty friendly. After all, she had apologized for the blasphemy.

Trying to describe her music tastes to people was a difficult situation for Juliet. She never really knew where she was supposed to begin - plus, everybody expected a different answer from you. Some people just wanted to know what kind of genres you listened to, some people wanted to know the specific bands. Genres were something that confused her even more, not helped by the amount of genres and sub genres (sometimes, even sub-sub genres) that were floating around. She didn't want to get into petty debates or arguments with people just because they had clashing opinions over what genre a band was. It was, however, one of the many reasons that she kept her iPod on her person at all times. When somebody wanted to know what music that she listened to, she could just hand it over and they could see for themselves. Thankfully, nobody had yet 'forgotten' to give her iPod back to her or ran away with it, adding to the growing number of damaged or missing iPods that she had gone through over the recent years as her interests in music had grown. There was also the issue of space, because her music library was forever expanding. 8GB iPods were of no use to somebody like her. Her laptop hard-drive had gotten so full that she had been forced to transfer all of her music library onto an external hard-drive and start all over again. It probably wouldn't be the last time, either.
Along with the inability to adequately describe her interests in music to people, Juliet also had a tendency to be extremely clumsy. Most people were constantly clumsy - they would forever be tripping over, dropping things, and knocking things over, but it was never usually a big deal. We all walk into somebody or catch our foot on something whilst we're walking from time to time. However, Jules was different. When clumsiness struck her, it would do so in a big way. In the past she had been known to trip over and break her wrist; knock over several rails of clothes by causing a domino effect across the store; and acccidentally trip over a waiter carrying two trays of drinks. Today, it was her turn to walk into the back of somebody in the middle of the music store. Great. At least she hadn't caused another domino effect across the racks of CDs, because she would have curled up and died right there without a second thought. Juliet continued to bite her lip as the girl turned around and replied to her comment about being religious. She had only meant it as a joke, but was unable to decipher how the other girl had taken it. Her nervous impulses kicked in as she ran her fingers through her hair to remove it from her eyes. Well, this is delightfully awkward, her conscience did nothing to help reassure the girl. It wouldn't have been so bad if it had just been a gentle knock - the kind of thing where you just apologised and continued. Jules had nearly knocked the girl over. "I think I am, but are you?" She cursed herself gently as she realised how foolish the wording of her question probably could have sounded.
Admittedly, Juliet was somewhat taken aback by the following question, but she decided to go with it anyway. She didn't want to be rude or anything, and there was always the possibility of making a new friend. Since she was a child, Juliet had always spent more time around boys than she had done girls, and it was something that had carried on through to her teenage years. To be frank, her teenage years had made it worse. There was something about most teenage girls that she couldn't deal with. All of the drama and the unecessary bitching, the petty competition about who had the most expensive cardigan. Some could say that she didn't have considerably 'affordable' tastes either, but she saved up the money to buy all of her clothes and she made sure to get the wear out of them. None of the 'no outfit can be worn more than once' crap applied to her. Her nose twitched in consideration of the question, the two silver nose rings through either nostril catching in the light. "Well... I guess that it depends on your tastes." She, sadly, wasn't psychic and therefore couldn't guess what kind of music that the girl liked. "I think that Automatic Loveletter's album dropped a few days ago?" There was a slight hint of uncertainty in her voice. CD releases were something that always confused her, she could never remember whether they were about to release or already had been released. Well, surely she would find out soon enough. "I'm Juliet," She smiled, pulling all of her hair back over to one side after it had fell during her little... collision.
It would do her good to spend time with a girl for a change. ( WRITTEN FOR: Kyla WEARING: I think this is the only thing that she ever wears minus the bag. LYRICS: none (yet?) GRAPHICS/LAYOUT: mine. Oh boy… could this encounter even get more awkward? Kyla hoped she had started a conversation that she hoped would lessen the whole “awkwardness.” She had to admit though that this was probably the most eventful way she had met someone. The odds were that if she ever saw this girl again she would remember how exactly they met and where they knew each other from (if they even remembered each other’s names). Asking the girl if she was alright probably was not the best wording, but she had returned the question with wording that was also strange and questionable. In hopes to lighten the mood, Kyla laughed a little and smiled to her question. “Yep, I’m good. Sorry… not the best wording I guess, but at least we knew what the other meant.” Now hopefully she was able to put out there that the wording had been a little off, but hopefully no hard feelings were being held. It did not seem like it anyway.
At the mention of an artist, Ky’s expression changed a little to confusion. She had absolutely never heard of that artist –or artists- until right now. Kyla waited to say anything though until she knew the girl’s name. With a polite smile Kyla said, “Nice to meet you.” But back to the new album, “I actually haven’t heard of that group until now, but I’ll be sure to check them out,” she noted and nodded at the end. Now, what was the group called again? Automatic Loveletter? It sounded about right and worst case scenario she could ask the girl again before they parted ways. ”I do tend to listen to a bit of everything and it also depends on what mood I’m in, so chances are I might actually like that album.” From before Kyla had noticed the small amount of uncertainty in the girl’s voice, but tried to just let it go. Perhaps just trying to keep a conversation going might ease the tension and hopefully make things seem like it was an outgoing atmosphere. Kyla did not harbor any bad feelings after all about being bumped into despite almost falling if she had not caught herself. There was no use in dwelling on something that was now already in the past when there were new opportunities right in front of her. This new opportunity actually included a chance to make a new acquaintance or… something close to hopefully a friendly acquaintance anyway.
